Borehamwood & Elstree Neighbourhood Policing Team
Keeping Our Communities Safe, Strong and ConnectedDear Residents, As we move into November, we would like to take this opportunity to update you on the work your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been carrying out across Borehamwood and Elstree during October. Firstly, thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our priority surveys, attend community events, speak with officers and PCSOs, or contact us with concerns. Your feedback helps shape our priorities and ensures we are focusing on the issues that matter most to you. You Said, We Are ListeningThis month's survey responses highlighted several recurring concerns: Across almost every ward, residents told us they want to see more officers and PCSOs out and about, tackling nuisance behaviour and engaging with the community. We hear you, and this remains a key priority for the team. Good News From Around Our CommunityBuilding Stronger Community RelationsWe continued our regular engagement with members of the local Muslim community through visits to the Maxwell Road Mosque, providing valuable opportunities to build relationships, answer questions and better understand local concerns. We were also proud to attend the Hertsmere Diversity Festival at Allum Hall, alongside Hertsmere Borough Council, where officers engaged with hundreds of residents from different backgrounds and communities. The event generated excellent feedback and reinforced our commitment to policing by consent and community partnership. Tackling Burglary Through PreventionBurglary prevention remains one of our key priorities. During October, local officers delivered crime prevention events, home security advice and reassurance visits across the area. One well-attended burglary prevention event took place in Farm Close, Borehamwood, where residents were provided with practical advice on securing homes and vehicles from opportunist criminals. Officers also continued to support vulnerable residents through individual visits, providing tailored crime prevention guidance and helping residents improve their home security. Partnership Working Making a DifferenceNeighbourhood officers represented the community at the Joint Agency Group (JAG), bringing together key partner organisations to address complex issues affecting local residents. By working closely with housing providers, local authorities and other partners, we continue to identify long-term solutions to recurring community concerns and support vulnerable people who may require intervention from multiple agencies. Engagement HighlightsDuring October, officers and PCSOs attended numerous community events and engagement opportunities across Hertsmere. Highlights included: ✅ Diversity Festival with Hertsmere Borough Council ✅ Crime prevention talks and community reassurance events ✅ School engagement visits ✅ Faith community engagement ✅ Partnership meetings and problem-solving initiatives ✅ Community patrols in hotspot locations ✅ Ongoing neighbourhood surveys and public consultation activities These engagements enable us to better understand community concerns and provide direct support where it is needed most. Focus on E-Bikes, E-Scooters and Nuisance VehiclesOne of the strongest themes from recent surveys has been concern around groups using e-bikes, e-scooters and electric off-road bikes dangerously in public spaces. Residents have reported: We continue to gather intelligence and conduct patrols in identified hotspot locations. Information provided by residents is crucial in helping us identify offenders and take positive action. If you witness dangerous riding or know where vehicles are being stored, please report it to us via 101 or online. What Residents Value About Their CommunityWhile survey responses highlighted issues requiring attention, it was also positive to see many residents praising: These are qualities that make Borehamwood and Elstree such special places to live, and we remain committed to protecting and strengthening them. Priorities for the Coming MonthsThe team will continue to focus on: 🚔 Increasing Visible PatrolsProviding reassurance and tackling issues where they matter most. 🚴 Tackling Nuisance Bikes and E-ScootersTargeting dangerous and anti-social use across our neighbourhoods. 🏠 Preventing BurglarySupporting residents with security advice and crime prevention initiatives. 🚦 Road SafetyResponding to concerns relating to speeding, dangerous driving and obstructive parking. 🤝 Community EngagementContinuing to listen, engage and work alongside residents, businesses, schools and faith groups.
Thank YouThank you for your continued support and engagement. Neighbourhood policing works best when communities and police work together. Every survey completed, every concern reported and every conversation held with officers helps us build a safer and stronger community for everyone.
